THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE AUDITIONING FOR THE YOUNG PEOPLES SUMMER WORKSHOP

Auditions

  • There are 3 pages that need to be signed and turned in at auditions. No one will be allowed to audition without these pages signed by the auditioner and the parent.

They can be found on the Facebook Page.

  • These pages are the Role Agreement & Actor Code of Conduct, the Adult Code of Conduct, and the Media Release.

Scheduling

  • Rehearsals are Sunday afternoons (time to be announced, however, it is usually between 2PM-5PM), and Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from

    6:30PM to 9PM.

  • The door will open half an hour before rehearsals and we will be doing some kind of activity e.g. theater games, running lines

  • There are 2 casts. All cast members will need to attend Blocking and Music rehearsals. Once we split into the different casts, you will only need to attend every other rehearsal.

  • Please see the calendar at the bottom of the page for a more detailed schedule

Volunteers

  • Parents are needed for the different volunteer positions. Please see the signup form.

  • There is a list of all the positions and what each is responsible for on the YPSW Facebook page. The production team will always be able to assist you.

  • To volunteer, contact us at summer.production.team@gmail.com or leave a message and we will return your call at 912-638-0338.

Check In/Check out Policy

● All cast members must wear their nametag at all times while in the theater.

● Only authorized persons will be allowed to pick up your child and they must show their ID.

● Self drivers check themselves out.

Absences

● No more than 2 absences (other than medical) are allowed during rehearsals and no absences during performances. Let us know all the dates you will miss and

we will see if one cast will work better than the other.

  • Your child should stay home if they are exhibiting any of these conditions:

  1. If they are too sick to be comfortable

  2. If they are contagious

  3. If they have a fever at or above 100°F

  4. If they are Vomiting,

  5. Have Diarrhea,

  6. A Persistent cough,

  7. Persistent pain (ear, stomach, etc.), or

  8. Have a Widespread rash.

  • Or if they have been diagnosed or have the symptoms of

  1. Flu

  2. Scabies or Lice

  3. Pink Eye or Conjunctivitis

  4. Covid-19

  • If your child has any open wounds, please cover them with a bandage when at the theater. Please also send your child with additional bandages.

  • Any of the production staff has the authority to put on bandages, clean wounds, and check for any of the symptoms listed above. If your child is

exhibiting any of these conditions, the production staff has the authority to quarantine your child from the rest of the cast/crew. They will notify you to

come and pick up your child immediately.

Costuming

  • Most costumes are provided by the theater. However, you may be asked to provide shoes and/or specific costume pieces e.g. tap shoes, brown pants

  • Cast members will need to be measured for their costume. The Costume committee may need to take measurements around the cast members

chest, waist, inseam, hip to ankle, and head and other measurements may be needed depending on costuming needs.

  • Sound technicians will be assisting with putting headset microphones on some cast members. Microphones will be clipped in the back of pants,

under dresses, and sometimes down the front or back of shirts, etc.

  • During the show, your child may need help getting dressed. Parent volunteers will be in the dressing rooms to help. If you are uncomfortable

with having someone else assist your child, you must be a dressing room volunteer to take on those responsibilities for both your child and others.

  • If your child has costume changes, they should wear biker shorts and a tank top or camisole under their clothes. The restrooms

cannot be used as a changing room.

  • You may elect to purchase the costume for your child’s character. However, it must be pre-approved by the costume manager. It will be

your responsibility to maintain it in good condition throughout the show and to ensure its safety.

  • All privately owned costume items need to be labeled on a tag or inside area that cannot be seen by the audience.

● While in costume, there is no eating or drinking (other than water).

Performances

  • Beginning on Dress/Tech rehearsals and continuing to the final performance, all cast members should arrive at the theater with their

foundation already applied. Ensemble should arrive with their hair already done.

  • After every show, your child is responsible for checking their costume over to make sure that it is “show ready” for the next performance. If

any part needs mending or is missing or if it needs to be laundered, they must let one of the dressing room attendants know immediately.

  • Cast members are responsible for making sure that their costume is hung up and put in the designated area before going home after the show.

  • Cast members are responsible for making sure that any props used for their part are put back in its place before going home after the show.

  • Cast members need to be respectful of other cast members’ costumes by not moving, touching, or wearing them.

  • All cast members will receive 2 complimentary tickets to their Preview Night to give to family or friends plus 2 tickets to the other cast’s

Preview Night so they can watch the show.

  • Saturday performance days are all day. After the matinee, the cast will change out of their costumes. We feed them pizza, chips, fruit, veggies,

and dessert. Then they will get back in their costumes and freshen up their makeup as needed for the evening show.

  • We offer discounted tickets for parents who will be purchasing 6 or more tickets in one transaction. This discount ends on Preview Night.
